Amanda Deanda is an Adjunct Lecturer with the Institute of American Civics in the Howard H. Baker Jr. School of Public Policy and Public Affairs. She received her doctorate in History from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville in 2025. Amanda specializes in United States constitutional history and political philosophy. Her dissertation studied memories of the U.S. Constitutional Convention and explored the historical development of constitutional exegesis from 1787 through 1861. Amanda has received support for her research from the Denbo Center for Humanities and the Arts, the Massachusetts Historical Society, the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, and the Library Company of Philadelphia. She is an alumna of the Claremont Institute’s Publius Fellowship and a former Richard M. Weaver Graduate Fellow with the Intercollegiate Studies Institute. Amanda graduated summa cum laude from Hillsdale College with a bachelor’s degree in History and minors in French and Politics.
